The School Psychology and the promotion of socioemotional skill
Abstract
The school is one of the most important institutions on the socialization of the human being, that is why it needs to prepare the individual to establish social bonds throughout life. The socioemotional skills are essential in this proccess. The purpose of this study is to contribute to the promotion of the socioemotional skills, more specifically when it comes to psychology applied to the school context. It is about a bibliographic research, using specialized books as foundation, scientific articles and other materials of brazilian nationality, written in brazilian portuguese and indexed in recognizably scientific sites. The research allowed to comprehend that the school is a privileged place to the promotion of socioemotional skills, taking into account the integrality of the individual. After presenting moments of historical development and definitions, the study pointed to the challenges and possibilities of acting from the School Psychologist. The School Psychologist can act on the continuing education of teachers, directly with the students, but also together with their relatives. It's necessary, furthermore, to address their own institutional practices, considering their historical and political crossings. Therefore, the socioemotional skills should not be treated only as curriculum theme, but as an aspect of the constitutive dimension of the human being that permeates all environments and moments of educational institutions.
