Social psychology and science: a brief historical overview of the emergence and consolidation as na área of scientific knowledge

Abstract

A 19th century was the great era of the ripening of Academic Sciences, where varied disciplines were formed at the academic space. Psychology itself, by the hands of Wilhelm Wundt, was inaugurated in the second half of that century, like as Sociology, with Positivism and also by thinkers such as Émile Durkheim and Max Weber. Since then, the disciplines began to merge – if and new areas emerged in the following decades, with Social Psychology being an intersection between the two aforementioned disciplines, the field of knowledge and the multiple profession, with varied aspects. From metaphysical to rationalist and behaviorist strands, Social Psychology has already established itself in the scientific field and, until contemporaneity, continues to be built. The present theoretical study objectives a brief historical cut about some of the main thinkers of Psychology and Sociology in the construction of this science, as well as – briefly – to list their main collaborations and highlight some points of interconnection between these different theorists.
