Prevenção, controlo e tratamento do tabagismo na formação pré-graduada dos alunos da Universidade de Évora
Prevention, control and smoking treatment in pre-graduate training of students of University Évora

Smoking is currently the first cause of preventable disease, disability and premature death in developed countries. In 2010, it is estimated to have been responsible in Portugal for about eleven thousand deaths. The latest Eurobarometer data from 2015 indicate that the prevalence of smoking has risen two percentage points compared to 2012, a trend contrary to the European Union. The Portuguese law stipulates that the themes of prevention, control and smoking cessation should integrate the curricula of pre-graduate training courses in health and education. This paper gives account of the training experience in this field in the courses of health education, including the objectives and recommended contents, the organization of Smoking Prevention Campaign and the effects have been felt in the realization of this intervention.
