Abstract

This article presents the analysis of an experimental science class, on the preparation of a terrarium, extracted from the author's master's thesis. In this episode we seek to understand how a teacher who teaches science for the fourth year of elementary school, in the city of Mariana - MG, made use of the methodological support book "Trails to Teach Sciences for Children" and, how it opportunistic reflection to students when she did not get the expected result in her experiment. In a more individual dimension, teachers evaluate, use and modify the information available in training materials according to their daily work. Considering the social dimension of the work of the teacher who teaches science to children, we ask whether the initial and continuing training programs of teachers consider the work context of this professional. Our goal is to contribute to the strengthening of the work of the primary school teacher and provoke a reflection on the training programs of these teachers.
