Abstract

On March, 24th, 2016, a chatbot played a pivotal role in the reignition of the debate on the dystopian possibilities of artificial intelligence. Tay was developed by Microsoft as a means to improve virtual assistant services. It was designed to learn through interaction with humans, but the experiment led to an embarrassing episode. Hence, this paper discusses the participation of algorithms in the production of digital narratives.
