Blue Jasmine in search of being memorable: experiences in shame, humiliation and secrecy in the contemporaneity

Contemporary society, the inheritor of the modern project of happiness, perfection and success, places the subject in a set of deadlocks due to massive appeals linked to those ideals turned into values. Such internalized and socially shared ideals can foster great suffering through the experiences of shame and humiliation that emerge as a result of the feeling of inadequacy.
In this set, the creation of secrecy ends up becoming a defensive resource against such experiences. Based on the film Blue Jasmine by Woody Allen (2013), this article seeks to discuss the difficulties of subjective construction in contemporaneity based on the feelings of shame and humiliation, and its implications on the constitution of secrecy.
