The purpose of this article is to identify and analyze the memories of violations of housing rights in the “Dossiê sobre as
violações ao direito à moradia na Vila da União de Curicica”. This document was produced by the Popular Committee of the
World Cup and Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2014, and released in 2015, during the time the city was undergoing
organization for the mega-events. The aim is to understand this scenario of transformation of the city and how the changes
have modified the lives of its residents, focusing on the poorest. A narrative analysis methodology was used, according to
Ricoeur (1994). Authors such as Sánchez (2013), Fortuna (2016) and Jaguaribe (2011) are used to better understand this
remodeling process of Rio de Janeiro in order to receive the mega-events. Finally, we realized that the dossier registered
memories that had little visibility in the mainstream media. They were silenced at a time when the city was managing its
brand in order to attract new mega-events, brands and investment.
