Cartography of the sexuation tables

Abstract

Based on a literature review, this article aims to present the sexuation tables formulated by Jacques Lacan, with the goal of examining the modes of inscription of sexual difference, the modalities of jouissance, and the not-all logic, whose implications extend to the critiques of Queer Theory. The justification for this study is based on the urgent need to reflect on Lacanian sexuation theory in dialogue with contemporary discussions on gender and sexuality, which question binary and normative conceptions of sex and identity. To this end, the philosophical and logical influences underpinning Lacan's formalization are discussed, as well as the clinical developments of the sexuation formulas. The text also analyzes the distinction between the phallic and supplementary modes of jouissance, addressing their implications for the construction of the subject. Finally, feminist and post-structuralist critiques of Lacanian theory are considered, highlighting the importance of an ethical and clinical debate on the categories of gender and sexual difference.
