“So what?” the trivialization of death as a bolsonarist legacy

Abstract

Marked by a strong economic recession in a still pandemic context, which expresses a deep social inequality existing in the country and that has made explicit a set of different technologies of power that were already in exercise in Brazil and that was strongly authorized by the sadistic discourse of President Jair Messias Bolsonaro, who also continues to highlight shifts in the way biopolitics, neoliberalism and necropolitics articulate among us. A political project of Bolsonarism, of an authoritarian state, which naturalises the use of force and violence, instigating us to problematisations that we will use Foucauldian theorisations and the theory of death elucidated by Achile Mbembe with the aim of interrogating the way(s) in which the relations between life and death are established in Brazilian politics, as it seems to us that there is a symbolic authorisation that killing is acceptable and anyway one day one will die. "So what?".
