Dilemmas of Brazilian Law: Between Theories, Empiricism, Doctrines, and Practices

Áquila Journal announces a call for papers for the dossier Dilemmas of Brazilian Law: Between Theories, Empiricism, Doctrines, and Practices, to be published in issue 34.

The dossier, organized by Michel Lobo Toledo Lima (PPGD/UVA) and Rafael Mario Iorio Filho (PPGD/UVA), seeks to gather research with an empirical approach focused on the Brazilian justice system in its procedural, practical, discursive, and unofficial dimensions. The objective is to expand the understanding, through description, of the role of the Judiciary and its forms of operation (formal and informal), highlighting how conflicts, decisions, power relations, and legal representations are produced and managed (judicially and/or through extrajudicial means) in Brazilian society, and in contrastive perspective with other societies.

Submissions must engage with the interdisciplinary proposal of the dossier, valuing investigations that connect Law to Social Sciences, and will be evaluated by ad hoc reviewers.

For more information regarding deadlines and author guidelines, please send an e-mail to [email protected] with a copy to [email protected]

In addition to the dossier, Áquila Journal is open for submissions for its 34th issue, accepting articles and book reviews. For more information, see the previous announcement or e-mail [email protected]
