Object Relations in S. Freud, A. Green, and J. Lacan: Remarks for a Research Project

This work develops the notions of objet and relation d’objet in psychoanalysis. It takes as its starting point Freud’s postulates concerning the relationship between pulsion and objet. Building on these foundations, Green’s theory, in strict obedience to Freud’s formulations on the pulsions, offers a formalization of relations d’objet that clarifies the place of the objet in the functioning of the unconscious. Finally, the contours of the problematic of the objet in Lacan’s writings are explored, as he articulates it with the function of the Nom-du-Père and introduces a radical subversion of Freud’s thesis in Totem et Tabou.
