The trauma clinic in psychoanalysis: sewing the Real

Abstract

The incidence of extreme events, combined with poor discursiveness, has an effect of psychic disorganization. This paper investigates trauma in the psyche and its treatment. Freud and Lacan worked on disruptive and economic character, lack of representation and repetition. The prevalence of the real, the question of treatment and transfer was addressed through the movie “La Teta Asustada”. The place of listening and symbolic elaboration of psychoanalysis are emphasized, especially in risk situations, and the trauma clinic proposes to imagine and symbolize, sewing around impossible holes to assimilate.
