Entre a psicanálise lacaniana e o estruturalismo, reconsidera-se o projeto dos Cahiers pour l’Analyse como uma tentativa de pensar uma lógica da estrutura para além de sua posterior reformulação como “lógica do significante”. Lacan mobiliza a fórmula canônica do mito de Lévi-Strauss para reinterpretar a estrutura da neurose obsessiva a partir do caso “Homem dos Ratos”, mostrando que o sujeito emerge da incompletude e do desequilíbrio interno do sistema simbólico. A estrutura, longe de ser uma ordem fechada e autossuficiente, depende de um resto constitutivo pelo qual o sujeito aparece como efeito e sintoma da impossibilidade de totalização do sistema.
