This article examines the relationship between Charles Baudelaire’s poetry and the urban transformation of nineteenth-century Paris. Considering the context of Haussmann’s reforms and the new dimensions of modern life, it analyzes how the poet, through prose poetry and flânerie, constructs scenes that reveal the sensory experience of modernity. The study highlights how Baudelaire turns urban everyday life—its contradictions, marginalized figures, and shifting atmospheres—into aesthetic material, shaping a mirror of modern existence. Drawing on authors such as Benjamin, Berman, and Hauser, the article discusses the Baudelairean dialectic between art and the city, as well as his influence on modern and symbolist poetry.
