Nietzsche and education: for a holistic knowledge

Abstract

The article that is presented aims to think with Nietzsche about the question of education in his time, which extends to the present. In order to improve the discussion, we will use as
theoretical basis the Extemporaneous Considerations and the Lectures (1872) given at the University of Basel entitled On the Future of Educational Establishments, in which the young
teacher elaborates a diagnosis of the education (bildung) of his time, especially in Germany, and realizes that the model is technicist, historicist, scientific and aims at a reductionist
knowledge. As a way of resolution, we will seek to emphasize a holistic knowledge, which aims at the human being as a whole, extracting his potentialities. It is an education that moves and does not walk alone, meeting the path of alterity. Beyond criticism, Nietzsche elaborates a prognosis, that is, alternatives for the educational situation of his era, considering its extemporaneity, and it is on them that this work wishes to focus.
