A piedade como sentimento político
Piety as a political feeling
Abstract
The main objective of this text is to analyze the place of feelings in politics, from the perspective of the thinker Hannah Arendt (1906-1975). We will investigate which feelings may or may not be considered political feelings. Through bibliographic research, this work is organized into four guiding axes of the discussion: in the introduction we conceptually define the distinction between the social, private and public spheres in Arendt. In the next topic, we will address the events that favored the rupture between the private world, the public world and the rise of feelings, together with poverty in the political world. In the third topic we discuss what Arendt understands by compassion, piety and solidarity and, according to Luc Boltanski, the possibilities of piety as a political action. Finally, in conclusion, we will discuss the limits and possibilities of political action presented by Boltanski, with regard to political action through piety, in the current political context.
