Resumo

The articulation of Freud's anthropological texts with the Lacanian concept of the Name of the Father leads to the examination of authority. The latter conducts to the transition from the subject to the social sphere. The father gains his authority in exchange for his equitable love, when he gives his sons what he does not have. Lacan uses the figure of Socrates to reveal how knowledge gives birth to love. He equates Socrates' position with that of the analyst. The transference does not transfer knowledge; however, it provokes love. The analyst transfers the power of language to the analysand so that he could produce knowledge about what he ignores.
